Showboat Design Awards 2017


On 1st December, Boat International announced the finalists in the Showboat Design Awards 2017.

Year on year, Ocean Yacht Systems (OYS) is involved in several high-profile superyachts launched and 2016 has been no exception, with four yachts (sail and motor) reaching the finals of the Showboat Design Awards 2017.

“We are delighted to see Captains, Owners and Owners Representatives selecting our thrusters, rigging and hydraulics for their new build and refit projects. Good luck to all the finalists.” Commented Mark Barwell Sales Director at OYS.

OYS World Support

OYS Rigging Busy Times METS2016Ocean Yacht Systems (OYS) rigging service and refit team is enjoying a busy Autumn winning and delivering various large yacht projects around the globe.

Recent major service work is underway in partnership with OYS service agents and trained riggers in Auckland, Palma, Italy, Holland, the UK and the USA. Jon Briggs-Winn, OYS’ dedicated rig service project manager, has a busy few months ahead of him ensuring significant yachts such as Royal Huisman’s Athena and Perini Navi’s Squall and Fidelis get back sailing on time and on budget.

2017 looks to be shaping up to be a strong one for OYS, with new rigging and refit enjoying a peak alongside OYS’ continued production of sail control cylinders, bow and stern thrusters.

OYS is exhibiting at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) at the RAI, Amsterdam from 15 to 17 November on stand 03.132. The service and new production team will be in attendance so please drop by and see them anytime during the 3 days of the show.


General Administrator

We are recruiting a General Administrator to support office management, but more specifically to support the Sales, Finance and Purchasing functions at Ocean Yacht Systems in Christchurch, Dorset UK.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Entering sales orders.
  • Entering job bill of materials.
  • Filing shipped off sales orders.
  • Assistance with any sales & marketing activities.



  • Arriving purchase orders.
  • Expedite purchase orders.
  • Maintaining COSHH records.
  • Maintaining and filling PO certificates and associated paperwork / mill certificates.
  • Managing site maintenance records / equipment / inspection / service records, ensuring we know when things should be inspected and serviced.



  • Matching invoices to purchase orders.
  • Reconciling monthly expenses (Credit card statement reconciliations).
  • Assisting with monthly bank reconciliations
  • Posting Sales and Purchase Ledger Invoices to Sage.



  • Managing travel requirements for staff encompassing booking flights/accommodation etc.
  • Answering phone.
  • Ordering of stationary / provisions.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required by the board of directors.


Work Experience Requirements

  • Good communicator (ask if you don’t understand things).
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Self motivated / like to keep busy.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Good IT Skills and proficient with Microsoft Office/Internet/Email etc.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as and when the needs of the business dictate.
  • Good team player.


Additional Requirements

  • Possess own transport.
  • Willingness to travel both nationwide and internationally as required.
  • Extended/Additional hours may need to be worked as and when required to meet demand.
  • Preference to live within 20 mile radius of Christchurch / Bournemouth area (even if re-located).
