Success for all 3 divisions in NZ

Ocean Yacht Systems are pleased to be combining custom products from all 3 divisions on one very special project. Currently in build with OYS thrusters, hydraulic cylinders and rigging fittings, the 37m Dubois Superyacht (project FY17) is being crafted by the team at Fitzroy Yachts, New Zealand.
This elegant, sleek and clean lined superyacht will be a first for its European owner. Designed for comfort and entertaining, the design and equipment on board FY17 foresee her as a worthy competitor on the emerging superyacht regatta scene.
FY17 profileOcean Yacht Systems are working with Fitzroy Yachts, Hall Spars New Zealand and Hall Spars USA to equip FY17 with custom made thrusters, a new range of lightweight aluminium hydraulic cylinders, plus bespoke titanium fittings integral to the cutting edge Hall Spars SCR Carbon rigging.
A vertical retracting bow thruster model H-0400-V and swing retracting stern thruster model H-400-S have already been installed at Fitzroy Yachts with the commissioning by OYS planned for the end of 2013. When not in use both units fully retract leaving a completely flawless hull as per the original designs by Dubois, assisting to maximise her hull performance when cruising or competing in regattas.
Mark Barwell Sales Director for Ocean Yacht Systems, “We are yet again delighted to be working with both Fitzroy Yachts and Hall Spars on such a significant project. We have a close relationship with both companies and FY17 brings the three companies together once more. We are looking forward to the commissioning of FY17 later this year.”

OYS return to Seawork

Ocean Yacht Systems (OYS) are to exhibit at Seawork 2013, from 25th through to 27th June in Canary Islands Fruit Terminal ABP Southampton on stand B13seawork2013 low res website
Returning to Seawork for the second time, OYS is pleased to report further growth in the commercial marine industry and will be exhibiting alongside propeller and stern gear manufacturer Clements Engineering Ltd.
OYS have most recently worked with a well-known German yard, where they were asked to use their knowledge and expertise in thrusters to work on a new cutting edge 20m workboat series.
Using an advanced SWASH design, the first vessel is now in service with a 60hp fixed tunnel thruster designed for precision manoeuvrability, power and reliability. In order to have complete control and manageability of the thruster, OYS have installed a bespoke PLC control and speed drive system on board. This is the first vessel in the series where hull form can be used for a variety of purposes including pilot boats and windfarm support vessels.

Ocean Yacht Systems is based in the UK but operates throughout the world. Daniel Wilkin, Project Manager from OYS, ensured a seamless handover by regularly visiting the yard to ensure the smooth running by checking both the installation and attending performance trials.

The OYS team look forward to welcoming you to Seawork 2013 on stand B13.

A busy period for OYS

P1010595 websiteFollowing the recent Management Buy-Out at Ocean Yacht Systems, the new owners are delighted with the responses they have had within the industry and the recent orders received.
There has been little rest since the announcement in May, with the Directors ensuring the changes to the ownership do not impact with the daily running, delivery dates and customer interaction.
OYS has been working on the recent flurry of orders which includes the commissioning of the new RDE-0650 model, the 90kw/120hp swing deploying thruster is the first in a series be supplied to the Perini Navi 60m design. Further to this, they have also been awarded a contract to supply units for new 70m currently in build, totalling three RDE (Rim Driven Electric) thrusters to Perini Navi in a two year period.
Closer to home, during 2011/12 OYS worked on two significant contracts with Pendennis Shipyard. This relationship has strengthened with a new order recently received for a thruster on a classic motor yacht that is currently undergoing a major re-build at their Falmouth base.
Another local project for OYS is to supply a vertical retracting custom lightweight thruster for a 78ft carbon performance catamaran underway at Green Marine. OYS has been brought to meet the specific thruster requirements of the project such as weight, size, and space available. This project is due for launch in 2014 and is weight critical.
Across the water, OYS have also received another order for a fixed tunnel electric 200hp unit for a new 59m Motor Yacht project underway at Trinity Yachts, USA. This continues on from the very successful commissioning of the Trinity Yachts 74m earlier this year.
The future is looking positive for the UK based company, with these latest orders across their divisions as well as their on-going service work. All OYS products are custom designed, engineered and manufactured at their headquarters in Christchurch, UK.
